Profile

Clare trained a the Janet Sutherland School of Dance. She has partaken in numerous shows, dancing variety of styles; ballet, modern and jazz. Clare has choreographed dance sequences in college production of ‘Grease’ and played part of Jan, with solo dance.

Charity showcase at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London. Danced at an international festival to celebrate ‘culture and diversity’- Methodist Hall London. Solo dance (improvised) and group dance co-choreographed by Clare.

Major youth festival, Rome, Italy. Solo dance (also choreography).

Clare is interested in improvised dance and its quality of presence in the ‘present’. She sees dance as communication and dialogue with the ‘audience.’ Clare is ever more interested in the role of dance, and performance more generally, in association with the political; currently Clare is doing an MScEcon in Postcolonial Politics and may undertake academic research in this area, and its relation to performance.

Clare has led workshops with adults and children with the objective of facilitating the exploration of dance on an individual and group level. A key theme of the workshops is dance as a ‘gift’: to the individual dancing and in its moment of performance or sharing with an audience. Clare has therefore choreographed various group dances for people of all ages.

Many of Clare’s performances have involved working alongside musicians on improvised performances.
